Jo Wilkinson
Jo and Robert Miranda

At the age of 50, Jo discovered that her ability to play guitar was waning.  Due to neurological problems, her fingers simply wouldn't do what they could before.  Yet her voice was still as strong as ever.  She went on a hunt for a guitar player, and found much more than that.  Robert Miranda came into her life looking for a different variety of music other than what he was used to playing.  He was an accomplished electric guitarist, in the blues and pop/rock genres, but had never examined acoustic music the way he had wanted to.  Jo was the perfect venue for him to venture out into new territory.  Over the past 11 years, Jo and Bob have created some of the most beautiful lyrics and melodies, together, and have maintained their collaboration even after Jo moved to Tucson.  Bob is a member of the Grains of Sand.  He is also a co-writer on some of the tunes you will hear, including "Ocean of Love," "Believe," "The Journey," and "The Road Alone."  He is featured on steel string guitar on the recently released "Jo Wilkinson and Grains of Sand" album.  The album will soon be available on this website.  He has added his tasteful electric style to many of Eligh's projects, including Enigma, and the latest one, the soon-to-be-released "On Sacred Ground:  Mother and Son."  An underrated master of his craft, he's happy if he's playing music, and is willing to spread his wings to any place his guitar will take him.  Check out this site to hear his incredible guitar playing on the "Sacred Ground" cd:  http://www.legendarymusic.net/osgcard/

Growing up as a Cuban-American kid in northern Illinois near Chicago, Bob's earliest musical influences included the great blues and R&B artists of the late '60's and '70's --- Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf, Paul Butterfield, Mike Bloomfield, Jerry Butler, Curtis Mayfield, among others. Playing throughout the states of the Midwest and South that border the great Mississippi, Bob had the opportunity to play many great clubs and concert venues in Chicago, St. Louis, Memphis, and New Orleans.

Since moving to Los Angeles, Bob has played with a variety of blues, pop, rock, and folk acts. He is a founding member of the Tipsy Kings, a great blues band deserving your ear!  Check out their website at tipsykings.com.   (See the Photos section of this website for a picture of Robert Miranda playing with Grains of Sand).
